HEALTH UPDATE Feb 19th 2011 On the 9th of Feb, I had to go to Urgent Care as I had right side abdominal pain and was throwing up. The doctor sent me for an ultrasound this Wednesday. They called a few hours later to tell me I had gall stones. I will be seeing a surgeon on Monday to see what we need to do. I will post this Monday night to let everyone know what we find out. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Let's do a quick look back on 2010. On April 17th I was honored to be a part of Aimee & Ron's wedding! On the 30th of June my niece Kayla Marie Kelso was born! Kayla is already 6mons. old and my nephew Phoenix is 2 years old and he is an amazing big brother! I had been having shoulder pain so my hero Dr. Shoemaker did a operation to fix me up. The shoulder was worse then expected but that always happens with me so we weren't surprised. The BIG surprise came on Aug 18th when we found out that my white blood cell count was 250 hundred-thousand! We did a bone marrow biopsy and I am now living with Chronic Leukemia.. We still went ahead with the benefit on September 25th and we raised a lot of money for both of the charities! Needless to say the Leukemia has thrown myself and my family for a huge loop. I am trying different medications, I am on a med called gleevec and it has brought my counts down which is GREAT! However every medication has it's side effects and believe me this one does. I am STILL HERE & KICKIN CANCERS BUTT!!! A VERY BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! My friend and angel Eve Selis decided that after she did the 3 day Breast Cancer Walk last year that she wanted to do a half marathon in 2011. So she put it out into cyberspace that she wanted to do one. Last week she received a call from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. She was asked to sing at the backstage pass party for the Rock N Roll Marathon for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. She decided to sign up AND do the L&L Society half marthon for ME!! I am an honery team member! I will wheel part of the race with her! Many people have been asking me if there was anything they could do for me, well YES! Eve has to raise $1700 to be able to do this! Please make a donation to her fund-rasing page in my name! http://pages.teamintraining.org/sd/rnr11/eselis LET'S ALL WORK TOGETHER TO KICK CANCERS BUTT!!! Thank You For You Love & Support! Jessica Smith & family Hello Everyone! September 4, 2010 Happy Labor Day Weekend! I'm recovering well from my shoulder surgery, it was more complicated then Dr. Shoemaker thought but that usually always happens. I had an unexpected bump in the road but I'm fighting hard & I'll explain more when I'm stronger. The 5th Annual UCP/Rainforest benefit is full steam ahead for the 25th! I hope your enjoying seeing the updated site come together! Where do I even start? Wow! Well, on June 30th 2010 my beautiful neice Kayla Marie Kelso was born weighing in at a happy & healthy 8lbs 12oz. The Kelso Family is complete! Phoenix will be turning 2 years old in just 3 days on August 11th. He is ALL boy & he is really into anything the blinks or makes noise. His favorite TV show is Yo Gabba, Gabba! Over all he’s doing great & he’s a wonderful big brother to Kayla!! I’ve hit another bump in the road since we’ve last talked. Due to my Cerebral Palsy my left shoulder has taken a liking to poping in & out of the socket, needless to say it is by no means comfortable. Then my ring finger on my right hand decided to pop and repture the tendon in my finger and it has caused my hand to go numb. So my hero Dr. Shoemaker & his great team will be going in on the 23rd of this month, he will be going in and fixing me up. Please keep checking my site for updates from my mom posted by a family friend Gareth. As my great friend Eve Selis says in one of her new songs of mine, “It’s Always Something, But You Have To Laugh, No Time To Frown”! I have to say a HUGE Congrats to my best friends Aimee & Ron or should I say Mr. & Mrs. Ron Morrison!! Thank you for letting me be a part of your big day, April 17th 2010 will be in my memory forever!! Now to the BIG Announcement!
